I’d imagine a Cardassian revamp, as it’s something the players want to see the most. I don’t know what the devs have in store for us in the future. I’ll also be running the new ground queue, purely because I love kicking enemies – they better fight like warriors, because Vaadwaur didn’t match my battle-capabilities at all! Again, not really bashing, there are people who really like it & I’m happy for them. Those are really nice & positive things to have in STO, despite of my personal lack-of-interest in the Iconian War.

We are now even getting Tom Paris & Miral Paris, in the Season 10.
#Star trek online delta rising missions series
I also enjoy seeing Voyager characters – because Voyager is the most favorite Star Trek series for me, and it’s just great interacting with Harry Kim, The Doctor, 7 of 9 & Tuvok, and see the continuation of their own stories, where the life has took them after they returned to the Alpha Quadrant. I still really enjoy the Nimbus! One of the most fun-to-play arcs. Some redundant & pure filler-missions were removed, making the playthrough much more enjoyable. Recently replaying all of the story-content, from the perspective of enjoyment & craftmanship some of them have reached a state of much nicer polish. On the good-note – I’ve been liking some of the episode revamps. It even seems to be one of the most popular expansions – but pardon me if I am wrong on that, I only play STO since September 2013, so could be wrong on that. But honestly, it worked nicely with New Romulus. Of course, it’s trickier to make it compelling, when you don’t have new ‘shinies’ to defeat, given the mentality of some gamers, who just want to ‘blow new shizz up’. From gaming standpoint, sure – they were not as appealing, and as personal pet-peeve, none of them included ground-combat, but from the story-point? Those are which I would include into the story of my character whereas fighting all these enemies not so much. Respond to Distress call there and there, protect someone, help the local Security to apprehend someone, disable ships, rather than blowing them up, etc etc. Small-episode stories, which don’t raise the bar of epicness of our character, but tasks, which are ordinary for a Starfleet Captain to do. That’s why the seemingly routine & perhaps borderline boring at times, Delta Rising patrols appealed to me, personally. That works dandy for the fantasy genre, really, but here, in Star Trek verse… I just don’t believe so. It may sound mundane, but Star Trek is not a fantasy, where our heroes go and face even more ‘epic’ boss at the end of the struggle. Protect their new home, explore & do all these small tasks. The backstory being, that we help the decimated Romulans to establish a new homeworld. In retrospect – I really like the New Romulus reputation.

Something, which doesn’t involve large-scale war again. But, after a year and half, watching Star Trek & developping/roleplaying my own character on the side, I just believe that STO misses something else. Now, when I started playing Star Trek Online, I didn’t even watch Star Trek series, so my knowledge of lore was zero-nada-nothing, my Liberated Borg was just ‘That cool Terminator’, while Romulans/Vulcans were dubbed ‘Space Elves’… So I generally didn’t see real issue with the storylines, as they seemed rather commonplace in games of this genre (sci-fi). I believe, that there’s just too much war & killing in general, in STO. I’m growing old, so I have an excuse for crappy memory! ? and what else I can’t really think of, just forgetting. We fought the Voth, Undine, Vaadwaur, Elachi, Tholians, Klingons, Borg, Romulans. My (personal) biggest beef with STO’s storyline is, that there’s just new enemy “every week”. Story, just like aesthetics/art is a personal taste of every individual. Now – before I begin – There’s no secret in me not being a fan of the Iconian storyline in Star Trek Online – but that doesn’t necessarily mean I don’t enjoy playing the game itself, because oh, I so so so do, being a gamer & all that. With the Season 10 knocking on the door, and me being up at weird hour again – Let’s the ramble commence. Jan’s late-night Coffee-powered rambling.
